    Top 7 Reasons for Outsourcing Human Resources

    Most SMEs do not have the money or manpower to run separate departments for all areas of their business operation; neither do they possess the expertise, time or resources to manage every aspect of their business. What is most critical for SMEs is that they can focus on promoting and selling their unique product or service.

    That is why more and more businesses are outsourcing various functions of their business or specific elements of the functions, such as Book Keeping/Accounts, Marketing and Human Resource Management.

    Are you looking to grow your business, add new employees or upskill existing workers? Or are you just struggling to keep on top of important legal requirements relating to HR? An outsourced HR team could be the answer to your business’s continued growth and expansion.

    Why outsource (elements of) Human Resource Management?

    1. It will allow you, the business owner, to concentrate on core services/products, confident that employee matters are being attended to;
    2. You will have access to professional knowledge, skills and expertise at the end of a phone/via e-mail;
    3. You will have peace of mind that you are compliant with employment law;
    4. It will increase your confidence about recruiting and retaining the best employees for your business;
    5. You will have access to the advice and support you need at a fraction of the cost of appointing a HR Manager;
    6. You will have ready access to expert training and coaching services for your company and at reduced rates;
    7. It will lead to a better synergy between business development and employee management and development.

    8 Things To Remember Before Your Job Interview

    Interviews can be very nerve-racking, especially if you haven’t done one for a number of years.  An important thing to remember when going for an interview is to ALWAYS be fully prepared and find out as much relevant information as you can about the company. Here are some tips from one who knows!

    1. Do your Homework on the Company
    Make sure you do some research about the company and the sector and of course the position you are applying for.
    - Always ask for a job description and person specification. If a company can’t provide one this is a sign that they are not sure what they want the new person to do!
    - Ask for a copy of the company’s annual report; particularly if you are going for a management position.

    2. Be prepared for the Questions they could ask you
    Anticipate the questions they might ask you by referring to your CV or job application, the job description and person specification. Ensure your responses are relevant and succinct. Practice your response with someone you trust.
    Think of examples from your experience that show you have the skills and experience they are seeking.

    3. Prepare Questions you might ask them
    Consider what questions to ask that will show your genuine interest in the company and the position, and will also help you to decide if this is in fact a company for which you want to work.

    4. Dress to Impress
    Always dress to make a good first impression!

    5. Know where you are going
        •    Double-check the address and know the directions
        •    Give yourself plenty of time to get there.

    6. Make a Good Impression

    How can you make a really good impression? By:
        •    Your appearance
        •    Your responses to the questions they ask?
        •    The questions you put to them.  You don’t always need to ask questions. For example, you may not have had an opportunity to make one or two points you believe to be relevant and important. This is the time to do it.
        •    Communication is Key!
    Listen carefully to the question asked and focus on answering that question.

    7. Always say Thank You
        •    Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to meet with me today.

    8. Lastly
    Practice, practice, practice!
